“Many… set their minds on earthly things. [But a Christian’s] citizenship is in heaven.” (Phil. 3:18…20) We should, however …“consider it pure joy [as Christians], when [we] face trials of various kinds [in this world], knowing that the testing of [our] faith produces endurance.” (Jam. 1:2) … “Then the LORD said to Satan, ‘Behold, all that [Job] has is in your power...’” (Job 1:8-12) … As I see what’s going on around the world and in our country, I often think we don’t act as though we are citizens of heaven; and are therefore like Job… we’re being tested. And like apparently many other Christians, rather than consider our collective plight a joy, I become overtly disgruntled, and I’ll express my displeasure through a “like” or “share” of many of the things I see on FB… Well, I may not change that; because, quite honestly, FB is where I get much of the news I consider important. And despite that “…it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret” (Eph.3:11-12), I want others to likewise know what’s going on. In any instance, it’s been on my heart to suggest to all my Christian friends that, as I truly believe, God is fully in control of the situation; and that, as in days of Jobab (the great grandson of Noah who many scholars believe was the writer of Job), God is still using Satan to test the faith of His people as long as we remain, along with those of the world. In line with that, I wanted to repost something I wrote nearly twenty years ago that speaks of these, in the hopes it may challenge others to further consider what’s going on, and to perhaps reconsider their lives and how they should be praying. Maranatha!!!
