Soke Kubota has studied various styles of karate so today in Gosoku-ryu kata taught all these areas. However the basic styles based on which developed original Gosoku-ryu kata are Shotokan and Goju-Ryu. In everyday practice Gossoku Ryu is more reminiscent of Shotokan Karate. However unlike the Shotokan here is much more emphasis on sparring gloves which are held with a light touch.
