Maternity Ward inaugurated IMPHAL, Mar 3: Kwairakpam Krishnagopal Memorial Maternity Ward at Primary Health Centre, Ningthoukhong, was jointly inaugurated today by Phungzathang Tousing, Minister, Health/Family Welfare, CADA and CAD; Govindas Konthoujam, Commerce and Industries, Sericulture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry. Other dignitaries present during the inaugural functions were Jason A Shimray, DC, Bishnupur; N Herojit, SP Bishnupur; Dr A Bijoy Singh, Director, Health Services; Dr Ng Hemanta Kumar, Chief Medical Officer. Honouring his late grandfather Khwairakpam Krishna during the presidential speech, Govindas Konthoujam said that donation from K Brojendro Trust and the public played an important role for the completion of the maternity ward. He also said that the initiative was not for a better political approach but rather for the well being and development of general public. Chief guest, Phunzathang Tousing said that Manipur stood second place in all India low infant-mortality rate. He further urged the gathering to avail all the health care facilities the ward has to offer and support in all its development initiatives.
