Matt 3: 1-10. This was the defining time in human history. Vs. 8 - 10. It is easy to over look John the Bsptist. Because he gets overshadowed by Jesus. Which is as it should be and is understandable. However, God sent John a head of Jesus to prepare the way for Jesus. Which was the start of the greatest change of the human condition and opportunity in the relationship between Creator and created. There was no turning back, no pleading ignorance or claiming false claims of being sons of Abraham. No longer would there be a reasonable to stay out of relationship with Abba our Heavenly Father. Right after this declaration by John (vs. 8-12) Jesus shows up, vs., 13. As soon as Jesus was lead into the wilderness to confronted by Satan himself. We see a immediate shift of focus to Jesus Ministry in the Gospel. John continued to baptize until he was arrested. But his importance never changed but he declined as Jesus became the central figure! In just a few short sentences we see the greatest change in human history! These are things worthy of pondering and meditation.
