May 1, 2014 HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Already a landmark day for Randolphs riding program turned historic, as the program earned its first-ever national championship, courtesy of junior Reynolds Martin (Ruckersville, Va./Albemarle). With the win in the individual novice equitation on the flat segment, Martin earns Randolphs first-ever national title in any sport. Martin and sophomore Meaghan Hynes (York, Maine/York) made the trip together, becoming the first duo of riders in program history to reach IHSA Nationals in the same year. In the individual intermediate equitation on the flat segment of the afternoon, Hynes rode well and earned herself a third place finish, becoming the first rider in the history of the program to finish in the top five nationally. Next up was Martin, who also rode on the flat, but in the novice section. After an impeccable ride on Leroy, Martin lined up with her 15 counterparts for the awards ceremony. The list, read backwards, left fewer and fewer riders standing before Martin learned the news that would be crowned as the national champion of the individual novice equitation on the flat discipline.
