May 1, 2014 is the inaugural “First Responders Day”. It is a day to honour and thank all first responders in the province for their dedication and service to the people of Ontario. “First Responders Day” will be recognized every May 1st in the future and serves as a kickoff for a full month of celebration in honour of our first responders including police officers, fire fighters, military personnel, paramedics, nurses, and doctors. The celebrations will begin inside the Provincial Legislature on May 1st immediately following question period where representatives from all three political parties will make statements in support of first responders. These celebrations will continue throughout the month with weeks dedicated to emergency preparedness, emergency medical services, and police. The celebrations for Police Week will take place May 11-16. We are pleased that the province has created “First Responders Day” to recognize the fact that Ontario continues to be home to some of the most professional, accomplished and accountable first responders in the world. President Christie and the Board of Directors would like to thank all our members and their families for their continued service to the people of Ontario.
