Maybe its the history or just trying to grasp the mentality of a generation coming to grips with a new technology, but I find these photos fascinating. These are Victorian Death photos. Often times there were no photos of the deceased taken in their living years, so families would take this one last opportunity to do so at their death. I am not into the macabre, far from it. Its more the paradigm shift of what is considered normal or aceptable. What is also captured in these photos is the mortality rate of young children in the pre-vaccination world. Please do not watch if you are sensitive, or had a recent death of a loved one. These are powerful images that may stir up some strong emotions.
