First Lady Chirlane McCray — herself an unpaid member of the de Blasio administration — announced her children’s unpaid internships in a blog post Thursday morning. Chiara is spending a month at the Office to Combat Domestic Violence, and Dante, who arrived for work with his dad Thursday in dress pants and a button-down, is working for the chief of staff to First Deputy Mayor Anthony Shorris. The mayor got a waiver from the Conflicts of Interest Board to allow the arrangement, which would otherwise have violated city rules. De Blasio’s two children are not the first mayoral offspring to land work in city government.
