Media Release: On Monday, November 17, 2014, Dr. Teneshia Daniels and Premiere Dental hygienists will be collaborating with Ronald E. McNair Junior High School to conduct FREE dental screenings for students enrolled. Vernon T. McCants of Vernon T. McCants Consulting and Community Services worked closely with Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Casey Wardynski and Board President Laurie McCaulley to make this initiative a reality. Lead by Principal Michael Morris, Ronald E. McNair Junior High School has about 450 students enrolled. Students were given parental consent forms to return for screenings, and over 150 students have expressed taking advantage of this initiative on Monday. Dr. Daniels and her staff anticipates serving 100 of those students from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the schools campus, and continuing the initiative on later scheduled dates to ensure all students are allotted opportunities for screenings. Research has proven dental problems negatively affect school attendance and performance. This community service initiative is the start of many to come in an collective effort to ensure students in Huntsville City Schools continue to receive quality educational opportunities free from distractors such as dental problems.
