Mens Results 19th July 2014 Clen sweep of wins for Massey Men this weekend The Massey Mens 1st had a 2-0 win over Hokowhitu. Such is the quality of the division 1 is that this result was in the balance until the last 10 minutes. A scorching shot from Joe Freeman in the 1st half and a composed goal from Nick Daly 10 mins from time allowed us to grab the 3 points on offer. Hokowhitu are in last place on the table but have had 4 wins from there 12 matches showing that no teams should drop there gaurd against them. Well done lads on a hard fought, physical game :-). The Massey Staff had a 1-0 victory over Pnbhs 2nds which is a very good result with Kocku the scorer, sorry if this is mis spelt lol anyways a great result. The Massey 2nds hosted Linton 2nds today and in the first 20 minutes it was more of a game of ping pong than football with Linton capitalising on mistakes and going 2-0 up. However when the Massey side settled down to keeping the ball on the carpet and keeping possession for long periods there was reward. In fact there was 5 of them as Massey swept past Linton to win 5-2 with goals to Tom Pearce, Eli Masoe, Jay Mason, Scott Mancer and Matt Mcghie. The fact that there were 5 different goalscorers shows the depth and talent within this side and they should now look to show consistency with there results :-). Tommorrow sees the Woman take on there respective opponents with the 1sts involved in a NZ Knock out game in Auckland against Glenfield Rovers and if I were to give them any advice it would be that they need to control the engine room in the middle of the park and keep possession and deliver to feet. This team is talented enough to go all the way and I would love to see a home final :-). The Reserves take on Marist 1sts at Massey at 1 30 and are looking to cement the Manawatu 1st Div title, but Marist wont lie down and will be looking to avenge the 2 early defeats to Massey Reserves this year :-)
