I have travelled to the U.S.-Africa Summit where there was a high level meeting of the White House, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health, State Department, U.S. Agency for International Development, and Defense Department and representatives from Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, and Nigeria. President Alpha Conde of Guinea outlined the strategy of the Mano River Union countries to contain Ebola. This includes encircling the epicenters, educating the local populations, tracing contacts and isolating those who fall sick. Monitoring at airports is a priority as is building laboratory capacity and protection of health workers. More on this tomorrow
