Message from the Washington State Ferries and King County Metro Transit: Beginning Thursday, July 18, from 7:30am through 3:30pm, King County crews will be paving the road on Vashon Hwy SW at the head of the dock. A flagger will be on hand to coordinate traffic from the queue line to the holding lanes. Drivers and passengers should use caution when transiting through the area. Starting Friday, July 19 expect heavy traffic through Sunday, July 21 due to Vashon Island’s popular annual Strawberry Festival. Please plan ahead and arrive at the terminal early in order to make your desired sailing. And, from King County Metro for bus riders On Saturday, July 20, from approximately 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM, the Vashon Island area will be affected by street closures and traffic congestion associated with the Strawberry Festival & Parade. During this event, Route 118 will be rerouted and will travel via alternate nearby streets, depending on the destination and direction of travel.
