Met Service of Jamaica Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 5:00 a.m. *** FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR EASTERN AND CENTRAL PARISHES UNTIL 5:00 P.M *** The Meteorological Service has issued • A Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine and Clarendon. •Effective until 5:00 p.m. today. • A Tropical Wave, which has been influencing weather across Jamaica, is now west of the island. However, the associated weather still remains across Jamaica and is expected to persist for at least another 12 hours. • Sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms due to gusty winds…fishers and other marine interests should exercise caution. A Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible. Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further news releases from the meteorological service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued. The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation. nch
