MetroNews Morning News Headlines: Today marks the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Nearly 3000 people died that day at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field near Shanksville, PA. And the war on terror that came out of that tragedy continues. President Barak Obama addressed the nation last night announcing he is expanding the air campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin says hes in favor of air strikes on terrorist but he wants the President to come to Congress to lay out his plan and seek legislative approval. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has ordered all U.S. and state flags at state facilities be displayed at half-staff today to commemorate Patriot Day and the lives lost on September 11. A moment of silence will be held at 8:46, the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center. The governor along with first responders with lay a wreath at the West Virginia Fallen Firefighter Memorial next to the state Culture Center and a bell rining on the north side of the State Capitol building. A Calhoun County man is charged in the death of a 15-year-old Parkersburg High School student. Investigators say Cody Philpott was riding his bicycle Tuesday afternoon along State Route 47 when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver kept going. Darren Parsons,20, of Calhoun County has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death. Two schools here in West Virginia are getting an A-plus from the National Parent Teacher Assoc. Lubck Elementary in Wood County and Jonson Elementary in Harrison County were named National PTA Schools of excellence. They are among 170 schools across the country to receive the honor. Its based on their achievements in building strong family-school partnerships.
