Department of Lands Wollangambe topographic map, 8931 – 2S, 1:25000, second edition. GPS setting WGS 84. Walk description and route Park the vehicles at the end of Waratah Ridge Road and take an old firetrail to GR 496 039. From here, descend S into Popeye Canyon at GR 496 033 and follow it until GR 507 038 (the first abseil), at which point we will exit to the ridge at GR 507 040 and walk back to the vehicles. No abseils but plenty of scrambling and possible exposure. Long wades and likely short swims. No need for wet suits but bring change of clothing for afterwards. Rating 5, M, S323E. Gear issues 2 litres of water, GPS, PLB, appropriate head and footwear, electrolytes, maps, compass, tape (leader only).
