"Millions of dollars flowing toward repair of flood-ruined roads - TopicsExpress

"Millions of dollars flowing toward repair of flood-ruined roads and bridges in Colorado will barely begin to mend damage that sprawls across at least seven counties, state transportation officials said Wednesday. Colorado will drain its road contingency fund of $100 million to begin repairing roads and bridges damaged by the massive flooding that began Sept. 11. The U.S. Department of Transportation kicked in $35 million toward the work Wednesday morning. "We want to start building connections with people and their communities as soon as possible," Colorado Department of Transportation spokeswoman Amy Ford said. But some communities stranded behind washed-out roads and bridges may have to wait for as long as a year before solid roads reach their towns."
