Modi seeks Japanese help in research for cure of sickle cell anaema From Jai Prakash Awasthi Kyoto, Aug - Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his concern over prevalence of sickle cell anaemia particularly in tribal population in India and sought help from Japanese scientists in research to cure the disease. The Prime Ministers sentiments reflected during his visit to the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application(CiRA) at Kyoto University here today. During his interaction with the CiRA Director and recipient of 2012-Nobel Prize for Medicine, Shinya Yamanaka, the Prime Minister told him that there is prevalence of sickle cell anaemia, especially among tribal communities across India.
