Mooloo Ladies go on to win a hard fought win over Otago. Here is a summery from their Manager Koren: Halftime Score: 3 - 5 Fulltime Score: 15 - 10 Player of the Day: Teresa Te Tamaki The build up to our game was not ideal. We had week of managing illness, which included cancelling trainings this week to help isolate the affected players and give them the opportunity to get better properly and quickly. Our travel to Dunedin was disrupted when our connecting flight from Christchurch to Dunedin was cancelled resulting in a last minute, unplanned night in Christchurch. As a result, this added a 4.30am start to game day, and took away our opportunity to have a team walk through prior to game. Game conditions were bleak. It was cold, windy with two heavy downpours. First points on the board were earned by Chelsea Alley through a penalty in the 37th minute. A quick unconverted try to Otago in the final minutes of the first half saw Otago go to break in the lead. A yellow card just before half time saw us start the second half with 14 players, even going down to 13 for a time. Otago added to their points 10 mins into the second half with an unconverted try, taking the score to 3 v 10 with 30 mins to go. With some players having very little in the tank the team grinded away. Toka Natua added a try in the 50th minute, successfully converted by Chelsea Alley brought the game 10-10, before Patricia dotted down in the 56th minute, which would turn out to be the match winning try. The last 20 mins required a huge amount of resilience and discipline while we defended many phases of attack from Otago. In the words of our captain, it wasnt pretty, but the teams’ ability to dig deep showed character and attitude. Our captain Teresa Te Tamaki was named as player of the day, she left everything out on the field and epitomised the mental toughness we needed to win. Ariana Bayler showed composure beyond her years, her relentless defence and the fact that she always puts her body on the line earned her a mention at after-match; together with Sosoli Talawaduas stong consistent work around the field. A hard fought win. #DUBNATION
