Morality Musings on Voting Sunday Eve: This pre-election Sunday - TopicsExpress

Morality Musings on Voting Sunday Eve: This pre-election Sunday evening, while I sit and watch United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, tell the world that there is no Plan B to the climate crisis as there is no Planet B youtu.be/FWVLC0t_K30 , I am swept up in a moment of deep connection with all the people who are working tirelessly to maintain creation for all people. I am also deeply perplexed at how people who proclaim to lead spirit filled lives could turn their backs on all of us. We are walking together, calling out to our leaders, that the global crisis will destroy all of creation-forever. youtu.be/xXGfZPd57hE I decided to take a look at what some other spirit filled peoples believe, from a moral perspective, about the issues that I am speaking out about here at home and we are speaking out about together around the world. Here is what I found. On the Immorality of Fracking from a Christian perspective sojo.net/blogs/2011/09/20/immorality-fracking And for those whose religion is science: Climate Scientists Spell Out Stark Danger And Immorality Of Inaction In New Leaked Report thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/08/27/3476258/climate-scientists-draft-ipcc-report/ President Obama is thinking about morality as well these days as is referenced in this article titled Of Corruption, Contempt & Climate Immorality natcapsolutions.org/2013/07/12/of-corruption-contempt-climate-immorality/#.VB93Yxa84Rs I was left rereading this paragraph which gave me pause: “If there is justice in the universe, there is a special place in hell for those who profit from human misery. One section of that special place should be reserved for those who use the privileges of their wealth to fund the network of think tanks, media, nonprofit organizations and political campaigns that pollute the public mind with junk science and propaganda, all for the purpose of preserving the status quo that has made them rich and that they hope will make them richer.” My Sunday evening journey still has answered my original question of how our elected representatives can turn their backs on the people with a moral argument of why they should not turn away from the people. One more search found a possible answer and solutions. Together we will no longer turn our backs. interfaithactiononclimatechange.org/ I’m ending with this song by Nahko Bear and Medicine for the People. It moves me beyond arguments of what’s moral, back into the space that calls out to our shared moral compass. “the time will come when everyone will sing, all life is sacred, While Im waiting Great spirit my fist is up bringing the power to the people, your reflection of us. Some of your people can’t hear it, The cries of the earth, Some of your people cant feel it, The way that it hurt. And it hurts great spirit And it moves great spirit, Interconnected in the wreckage of a Paradigm on its way out, way out...” youtu.be/7m0WSLUJHKA
