More Dealings with the Bible agnostics - #1. SoliDeo posts: Can you show us this signed agreement btwn the vatican and the UBS? Id really like to see that. Hi Soli. You obviously have not bothered to actually read or look at the links I have been providing. Here is the entire article (I wrote it; it is my own research, not somebody elses work or opinions) Undeniable Proof the ESV, NIV, NASB, Holman Standard, NET etc. are the new Vatican Versions brandplucked.webs/realcatholicbibles.htm There is a LOT of concrete documentation here, but just in the first part you will see the following. You can look it up yourself and see if this is true or not. I have a copy of the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece 27th edition right here in front of me. It is the same Greek text as the UBS (United Bible Society) 4th edition. These are the Greek readings and texts that are followed by such modern versions as the ESV, NIV, NASB, Holman Standard AND the new Catholic versions like the St. Joseph New American Bible 1970 and the New Jerusalem bible 1985. If you have a copy of the Nestle-Aland 27th edition, open the book and read what they tell us in their own words on page 45 of the Introduction. Here these critical Greek text editors tell us about how the Greek New Testament (GNT, now known as the UBS) and the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece grew together and shared the same basic text.In the last paragraph on page 45 we read these words: The text shared by these two editions was adopted internationally by Bible Societies, and FOLLOWING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE VATICAN AND THE UNITED BIBLE SOCIETIES IT HAS SERVED AS THE BASIS FOR NEW TRANSLATIONS AND FOR REVISIONS MADE UNDER THEIR SUPERVISION. THIS MARKS A SIGNIFICANT STEP WITH REGARD TO INTERCONFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS. It should naturally be understood that this text is a working text: it is not to be considered as definitive, but as a stimulus to further efforts toward defining and verifying the text of the New Testament. There it is folks, in their own words. They openly admit that this text is the result of an agreement between the Vatican and the UBS and that the text itself is not definitive - it can change, as it already has and will do so in the future, and is not the infallible words of God but merely a stimulus to further efforts. #2. Soli Deo posts: I believe in the tenacity of the text and transmission of the word of GOD. So do you believe erasmus was inspired when writing his greek texts from the latin? Hi Soli. You sound just like a James White clone. the tenacity of the text. That means nothing, sir. Do you have a complete and inerrant Bible in ANY language to believe in and that you can show us? James White refuses to answer this question. How about you? If interested and not too lazy like Billy Jack, you might want to take a look at this study I did and call The Farce James White calls The Tenacity of the New Testament - A Textual Study of 1 John brandplucked.webs/whitestenacity.htm Now, to address your question. Do i think Erasmus was inspired? No. And i dont think the KJB translators were inspired either. It is not Bible translators that are inspired but the very words of God are inspired. I believe in a Sovereign God, who is the Governor among the nations. And I believe He guided the KJB translators to both the right underlying Hebrew and Greek texts and guided them to put His pure and infallible words into the English language. It is His words that are inspired. By the way, the KJB translators did not even primarily use Erasmus but the texts of Beza and Stephanus; plus they had access to other Greek and Hebrew mss. and several foreign language translations. But it was God who was working behind the scenes to put into the TEXT of the English Bible His inspired and preserved words. God has borne witness to the King James Bible as being His pure and perfect words far and above any other in all of history. It is the ONLY English Bible believed by thousands even today to be the infallible words of the living God. NOBODY seriously believes the ever changing ESVs, NIVs, NASBs, NET, Holman, NKJV or any other bible in any language is the inerrant words of God. If you do, they why dont you do what James White refuses to do - SHOW us a copy of this infallible Bible you apparently want us to think you actually believe in. Will you do that for us? Thanks. #3. Soli posts: There is no way of drawing a solid family line of manuscripts sir and to make assertions such you make is really not being honest and in a debate with any learned muslim or liberal you haveno ground to stand on claiming that the kjv is a perfect and infallible text. Uh, Soli, I am not really worried about what the Muslims think of our Bible. They deny its truths on just about every point. But at least I can show them what I believe is the infallible words of God in print that a person can hold in their hands, read and believe. And what have you got to show them? Those long lost and never seen originals only? You dont even have a Bible in any language that you can show the Muslims that you honestly believe is the 100% true words of God. The only the originals are/were inspired and inerrant ends up meaning that you have NO infallible Bible NOW, and you are confessing a faith in something that you not only have never seen, but in something that YOU KNOW does not exist! And you think the KJB only position is whacky?
