More on the production of young horses, from an article I read years ago about Rodney Jenkins, that applies to most elite riders with patient attitudes--- It went like this, not exactly, but this is the gist--- The reason Rodney can bring along a good young horse so fast and so far is because he never lies to them, but always makes their job easier by getting them to a good takeoff point, from a good canter, and then stays out of their way over the jump. This fills the youngster with confidence. So rider skill plays largely into the training equation, no big surprise there. But skill without patience isn`t enough. Both are needed.
