More updates on the new payment processing system and how it may affect you: Additional ongoing efforts will continue, focused on liquidating the backlogged certifications for ongoing benefits. Extra staff from beyond the unemployment insurance program is lending a hand, additional hours daily and through the weekend will continue, and we are implementing further automation efforts to clear the backlog. Also, the EDD has expedited the notice process so we can mail letters tomorrow to affected claimants with a backlogged certification. We want to confirm for them that we have received their certification for ongoing benefits and are working to get it processed as quickly as possible. We hope that will help reduce incoming calls and emails from customers concerned we haven’t received their certifications, allowing our limited staff the chance to focus on clearing our backlog. The EDD sincerely apologizes for the hardship experienced for those with backlogged certifications for benefits.
