#MorningBlend on July 11, 2014: Five months after being smuggled out of San Salvador and into the United Kingdom, we discuss Wednesdays homecoming for 12 of 13 rare Rock Iguanas. These iguanas are listed as near extinction or very endangered by the Convention for International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Our guests discuss the circumstances surrounding the illegal capture of the creatures. We get details about their return to The Bahamas, and whether they will ever be re-released into the wild. We also discuss what Bahamians can do to protect the threatened flora and fauna of the country. TonIght, the Ministry of Environment along with officials from the Police Force and the UK Border Force will discuss the return of the iguanas at a public meeting. Its set for 7pm-10pm at the BNT Retreat on Village Road.
