We have a grey tabby that has been visiting with our cats at our patio door. Over the last couple of months, I have been slowly earning its trust. It is definitely a stray that has been around people at some point. I do believe that it was left behind when someone moved. Not sure, but it may be the same kitty I used to see out front last year. So I made a cat house, blanket inside an inverted tote with a door cut out. Then a blanket on the outside & covered with a tarp. The tabby doesnt seem to trust it. A day or two after I set the house up, we found our little cat excited at the patio door looking through the blinds. Only this time, she wasnt going as bonkers as she usually does when the tabby comes to visit. I look through the blinds and found a small, young black kitty rubbing up against the glass trying to rub against our cat. I wasnt able to get close, but it did use the cat house the last day or two. It really doesnt seem to know what to do in this cold, as it kept sitting up against the patio door. A couple of times I noticed it seemed to be nodding off sitting up. The tabby seems to know what its doing. It comes for a visit with the cats and a meal, hangs out on the fence or shed for a bit, then meanders off. The little black one just seemed to want to be with the other cats so badly, to the point that it seemed it would rather sit and freeze than to go get warm in the box. Yep, my inner lesbian is the crazy cat lady. I got the little black one inside. Funny thing is, it seemed the least skittish of the two, never leaving the patio, just hiding from me in the shed where I left the door open a crack for them. It actually might just be more feral than we thought. But it will have to have an adjustment period if we dont find its owner. The other cats are already ignoring it and taking their afternoon siestas. So the little black kitty is hiding in the work room, only it knows where. I actually forgot a couple of times that it was even in here! lol
