Most of my friends in the world of fitness have met the After me. - TopicsExpress

Most of my friends in the world of fitness have met the After me. You didnt know me before I lost my 110 lbs. You didnt know the unhappy me with a low self-esteem, or the wall flower me hoping no one would notice me at the back of the room. If you know me now...you may not have even recognized me as I was before I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2008. In order to know who I am now, I would like to share a bit about me before. I have spent the majority of my life overweight and trying to convince myself that I was happy. I would put on my happy face each morning as I dressed for the day. Although most folks around me believed this facade, I could never really sell it to myself. I wanted to be thin. I thought it would make my life perfect. To that end I tried every diet plan on the market, from the latest trend in this weeks magazine to the promised miracles at the quick weight loss center. I found limited results with most of these plans, but nothing that stayed with me over time. I always regained the weight plus more...finding myself miserable and disappointed once again. My life changing moment came when the doctor shared my lab results following my double mastectomy. You see, I had been diagnosed with breast cancer and this procedure was my best option. My cancer cells thrived on estrogen and fat cells and I had plenty to feed them! I wanted to live! I wanted to watch my grandchildren grow up! I knew that I had to take serious action immediately and so I began my journey to discover a healthier lifestyle. That journey began with my initial diagnosis in 2008 and has continued every day since. Along the way I have learned about nutrition and the importance of making better food choices. Ive tried a variety of exercise programs, searching for the ones that helped me feel energized and strong - both physically and emotionally. Most importantly in my journey to drop 110 pounds, I have learned about me! I believe that getting healthy and staying fit should be enjoyable. Its not just the end result but the journey that should make you feel good and confident about yourself. Im still on my journey in this new lifestyle. I continue to learn about the best nutrition for my body and I love working out, especially with others who are also striving to meet their own goals. I want to help you find the joy of a healthy & fit lifestyle with motivation, inspiration and support.
