Motorsport @ Cranfield University 1st July 2014 Racing motorcycles welcome... Neil Spalding will talk about Ducat and Moto GP... We will be holding our event at Cranfield University again on 1st July 2014 and I hope owners of historic grand prix cars, sports racing cars, racing motorcycles and associated artifacts will display their machinery at the University which has a long association with motorsport. Most of the F1 grid undertakes their FIA impact testing at Cranfield for example. Maria Costello is an Associate Rider to Cranfield Motorsport and a number of our MSc students have worked on the development of the Alto Performance bike programme. I am calling our event for National Motorsport Week, Tours, Talks and Temptations. In the morning we will have tours of facilities, including our race driving simulator. We supply simulator technology to F1 teams, NASCAR etc. After lunch there will be a series of talks culminating in the IMechE lecture to be delivered by Cranfield Universitys Visiting Fellow Karl Ludvigsen. This will focus on : - The transition from front engine to rear engine Grand Prix cars. Others who we are hoping to present on the day include: Dave Hailwood who intends to bring his late father, Mike Hailwoods bikes and cars Adrian Goding who is bringing the oldest running petrol engine car Neil Spalding Adrian Reynard Sam Sam S Collins I have other presenters in mind. You may be contacted! The temptations are the racing cars, motorcycles and other artefacts. We hope to organise a dinner. Racecar Engineering is supporting us as is TIGOSE. Anyone interested in displaying a car, bike or engine, please contact Jess Greenwood [email protected] This is what was on display last time. There were supeb cars and bikes including those owned by alumnus Duncan Dunbar flickr/photos/appliedsciences/sets/72157630406232960
