Much discussion on Minimum Wage lately....especially since Sea-Tac just narrowly approved an initiative requiring $15/hour minimum wage. Heres a few. In WA State: the average family income of a min wage earner is $47,540, just 8% min wage earners are single parents w/children, and fewer than 4% have a college degree. Nationally: less than 3% of all workers in the U.S. earn the fed min wage, only 3% of all workers age 25 and over earn the min wage. And, 2/3 of min wage earners receive a raise w/in a year. And finally, employment for low-skilled workers tends to decline when the min wage is raised. Facts are stubborn things.
