Must have dipped into the 30s last night as the water founts inside the chicken coops were froze this morning. So plugged the electric ones in so hopefully I wont have to dig ice out of them again. Tomorrow no doubt will find some do not work from last year (nothing lasts forever). After the wind storm on Friday there are only a few trees that still have some yellow leaves - the rest of the woods are bare and the vineyard has shed its leaves as well. Hard to believe only 2 weeks ago the grapes were picked and the leaves were full and robust. Many vineyards in our area are unpicked - strange to see the bare vines weighed down with masses of purple grapes. Many had such heavy yields this year they could not meet the sugar quota and the processors would not accept them. Fortunately ours were not in that category. Looks like a thinner pocketbook for many grape growers this year and a winter feast for the deer and other wildlife. Coming in from doing the chicken chores my feet are freezing! I think Ill hibernate all winter and not stick my nose out of the door - just keep my warm fuzzy slippers on 24/7! Just realized I signed up for an exercise class at the local highschool pool which starts tomorrow afternoon. Going out to swim in a cold pool when its 40 out? What was i thinking????? LOL.
