My Dispatch column today tells of the beginnings of the pilgrimages in Columbus. The Columbus Pilgrimage of 1942 was an interesting one which attracted international attention. World War II had started and Kaye Field of the Army Air Corps had just opened at Columbus. Base families became involved in the pilgrimage and as a result stories and articles appeared in publications ranging from Life Magazine to the Illustrated London Magazine. A photo of Mrs L C Mallory the wife of Kaye Field commanding officer Col Mallory. She was a hostess at Whitehall.
