Contrary to the tone of this article, my office is and has been - TopicsExpress

Contrary to the tone of this article, my office is and has been engaged with this lot during my time in office. This is not an abandoned building but a resident that needs assistance. We could simply write tickets and we have cleaned up the lot multiple times but the real issue is that we need to be more of a community and help each other clean up when it is a personal situation that has gotten out of hand rather just waiting on the city to trespass. Our ward superintendent has consistently worked with this block, we have written tickets but we have also worked to get resources and attention to the area. In fact it was our office that made the press referral. So the tone of this article, and the editing of my statements, that insinuates that I diminish the concerns of my residents in any neighborhood is incorrect and insulting. I have, and always will, call on the community to do their part. I push the city to hold banks and investors responsible for upkeep but my preference is that neighbors help out when a private owner may just be falling on hard times. Our solutions come from working together and I will always remain that sort of collaborative public servant.
