My English and Gallic friends in particular, bet you thought that Troy was in Turkey? Want a different opinion? For your leisure reading, pick up a copy of Clive Custler’s “Trojan Odyssey”? A historical fiction novel, it is based on the contention of Iman Wilkens a Dutch writer who posed that Troy was in the UK. His theory is that the Trojan war was in fact a narrative where Celts fought for control of the TIN mines in Cambridgeshire. Enough details are provided to make rethink the whole Odyssey epic. Fair warning, Wilkins’ book is expensive so getting the Custler novel is kind of a “Cliff’s Notes” view of “Where Troy Once Stood”. PS The description of Priam’s daughter Cassandra sounds more like that of a fine colleen than a Mediterranean hottie.
