My Experience Being a Senator at McGill University for Two Years - TopicsExpress

My Experience Being a Senator at McGill University for Two Years and a Vice President for Academic and University Affairs of The Post Graduate Student Society Was Quite A Rich Full Experience...There Was A McGill Student Fellow Who Always Used To Have Concerns, Comments, Questions and Initiates Discussion About Each and Every Motion Proposed, About Meeting Rules, Societies By-Laws, Constitution, Code of Conduct, Initiatives, Projects, Individuals Running for Elections & Their Profile, Experience, Goals, Plans & Agendas, And Seriously Tackle Each And Every Item on The Meeting Agenda of Our Weekly Meetings...of Course You Can Imagine His Live Vivid Interactions At our Annual General Meeting & How Thoroughly He Questioned Me While I Was Running Twice For Elections...I Might At Some Points Early In The Beginning of My Term, Coming From The Middle East Have Often, Unfortunately, Thought Why This Guy Is Always a Trouble Maker...But Couple of Months Later and After Tons of Leadership Courses at McGill For a Full Two Years and Full Interaction At All Levels With The Principal, The Provost, The Vice Principals, Dean of Graduate Studies, Several Associations On Campus Levels, and My Fellow Colleagues, Their Problems, Needs & Requests... I Realized I Have Learnt A Lot From This Colleague...He Was Most of The Time An Opposition Voice, Objecting and Criticizing On The Go and I Chose To Follow My Childhood Approach of Embracing All Voices, Giving Full Attention and Respect For What He Is Saying Since I Am A Leader In The Society Serving My Colleagues Best Interests Who Voted For Me...And I Can Proudly Confirm, That Through Each and Every Objection of His, He Always Brought Concrete Solid Objective Insights That Have Always Supported Our Projects and Initiatives...And I Really Appreciated How My Father Raised Me To Always Pay Attention To People & Listen To Their Voices Without Any Filters or Judgments, and How To Enhance My Plans Through The Feedback of Opposition and Objections...Yes, I Wont Be Able To Satisfy Everyone In The Society,, YET, I Can Always Do My Very Best To Improve My Plans, Modify My Targeted Goals To Better Fit The Society Needs In A Way That Abides By The Organization Mission and Vision While Serving The Interest of a Great Portion of The Society...Having Said So, Never Neglect At The Same Time Minorities and Their Needs...And Its Been A Great Journey and Such an Honor To Always Have Been A Speaking Voices Representing Others & Delivering Concrete GOALS...It Is A Commitment, a Dedication and a Decision To Neutrally Look At Situations, Projects and Initiatives From the Sole Lens of Serving The Society and Its Initiatives... No Wonder I Love McGill University (,) What I Have Learned There Cant Have a Price Tag (,) Reflections By Dahlia Mostafa (,)
