My Grandpa was born in 1927(The Toronto Maple Leafs won The Cup that year cause its ingraved inside the cup). My Grandpa was a Professional Basketball player in Champion, Michigan. He was a logger, a mechanic, had his own Asphalt Company in Detroit when he decided to leave The U.P. to work & live in The BIG City. He was a truck driver. He was many things in life BUT most of all I know he was very influential in turning some young boys into men.... MyselfKris Plankey & Jeff Plankey. He was NOT a kiss & hug Grandpa(maybe later in life with the GREAT Grandkids but not us). My Grandpa worked WELL into his 80s. He worked hard BUT I think his GREATEST accomplishment was spending time with us when we were younger & teaching us to become MEN. He may not have enjoyed Kris stealing his paint & wood BUT eventually he taught us how to build stuff with our own 2 hands. He taught us that NOTHING is free or handed to you. If you want something work for it. Dont expect ANYONE to do it for you. Do it yourself. He taught us to live off the land & I hope someday I can show him that I was watching, listening & learning EVERYTHING he taught me. Including fishing & hunting. 1 of the most important people in my life along with my Dad. Im glad I knew him. Spent time with him. Listened to him (even when he yelled at me) & learned from him. He was the best. I hope hes fishing somewhere out there with Uncle Gene,Great Grandpa Edward Plankey, James Plankey & John Plankey. I can only imagine the conversation. Thanks Grandpa.
