My daughter was sent home from school for striking another child. It has since transpired that the other child has been bullying other children and started on her. Big mistake. Katherine told the teachers I tried ignoring her, tried walking away and gave her a verbal warning when she was hit the first time. The second time she was hit (which of course the teachers didnt see), Katherine responded with a double open palm strike to the chest (which they did see). It sent the other child flying and she bumped her head when she hit the floor. I told the teachers, I wont have my child bullied, either you see it and stop it or Katherine WILL defend herself. On the plus side the bully is no longer picking on other kids.
