My entire life I have always loved spending a significant amount of my time with family & friends. It wasnt until my late thirties that I learned how to enjoy being alone. God directed my path through a season of solitude. It was during this time, I learned to enjoy my own company.When my daughter would visit her father, I would often spend the entire weekend free of interruptions. No phone calls, no family or friends visits. Just me and God. Was it hard? At first, YES! Just being honest! But it was NECESSARY! It was during that time, I learned the following valuable lessons: 1) I can enjoy a movie or evening out by MYSELF! ( I never would have done that years ago because I feared what others might think) 2) I cant CLEARLY communicate with God, if I am always surrounded by distractions(phone, social media, family & friends,etc) 3) Solitude gives you time to reflect on your life and discover areas that need to be addressed. 4) It gave me an opportunity to learn more about myself. So my friend, if you struggle with this issue, I encourage you today to begin your journey with the assurance that GREAT things are on the other side! :) #lovingmyforties
