My fellow Cooper Alumni, As most of you know already, the election for Alumni Association Council is going on right now. I have decided to run for one of the 12 spots on the Council. Allow me to explain why… Following the Board of Trustees rejection of the Working Group Report, I gave a lot of thought to what I should do next with regards to my relationship with Cooper Union. Id been engaged in the fight against the tuition plan since it first began, and I was devastated and angry. But after much soul searching -- and a realization that the next few years will most certainly bring a great deal of change -- I decided that now is not the time to disengage. I decided I WILL NOT WALK AWAY, leaving my beloved alma mater in the hands of an administration that I do not trust with the future of our institution. EVER. I will always do whatever I can to persuade the members of the Board to return to the full scholarship model that Peter Cooper intended. No matter how long it may take. And I will do everything I can to keep the legacy of Peter Cooper from being re-written by current and future presidents with hidden (or not-so-hidden) agendas. I would sincerely welcome the opportunity to serve as one of the 12 members of the Council, along with the many other excellent, worthy candidates who are running. Regardless of whether Im elected for one of the spots, I remain committed and will continue to work towards the goals above. Those of you who know me know that I am committed and capable. Those of you who dont know me, Id love to hear from you. I will be at the Free and Open to All Peter Cooper Block Party this Sunday, April 13th from 1-5pm, and I hope you will stop by and speak with me about the election, our school, or whatever. You can find me at the Jello Challenge table. If anyone, including the other candidates, would like to use this thread to discuss the future of Cooper Union and the CUAA, Id welcome that. There is still so much work to do. Thank you, Carol Wolf, Art 84
