My heart aches for my sisters in Nigeria. Like most, my initial reaction to the news was one of anger, outrage and disgust. The urge to descend into a state of hopeless apathy for the fate of humanity darkened my spirit. How do we see God in such things? How can we see love? I am reminded of my own atrocities. Certainly nothing as severe as these but borne from the same state of consciousness. A wounded soul who knows no other course than to perpetrate those wounds upon others. To transmit the darkness. I was blessed in that my darkness was met with love. Where I showed anger and hatred I was matched with compassion and kindness. When I showed fear I was met with faith. The natural result is that over time a miracle was performed and my darkness transformed into the light, which is now transmitted to others in turn. I am forever grateful for the grace which was shown to me in the pit of my despair. I know that is now my responsibility to give that which was so freely given to me. These atrocities are a call to love. It is a call I will answer.
