My maternal grandfather served in the Royal Navy during World War - TopicsExpress

My maternal grandfather served in the Royal Navy during World War II, his ship protected the convoys in the North Atlantic. My father served in the Highland Light Infantry (based out of Glasgow). He was part of the British forces in the Sinai and Cyprus during the pre-UN peacekeeping efforts after WWII. I served in the Canadian Navy on the HMCS MacKenzie. The closest I came to armed conflict was when our fleet was told to stand ready to withdraw Canadian personnel from Vietnam when the Americans were pulling out. My son is in the Navy now, hes currently on the HMCS Calgary. I hope he never has to engage in armed conflict. Today is a day to remember and show respect for those who have and who continue to serve our nation: We will remember them.
