My name is Ross Gregersen. Ive been married a year to my wife Erika and we have a daughter in the Primary Childrens Hospital. Last fall, my wife and I found out we were pregnant with identical twins. Amazing news, however, not long after we found out their was a problem with the placenta they were sharing and our baby girls were suffering from a condition called Twin to Twin transfusion syndrome. This meaning that one twin was receiving the bulk majority of the nutrients, blood, and water; where the other twin girl was receiving next to nothing. Around February of this year we were told we were being rushed to Denver, Colorado for emergency corrective laser surgery to open options to both babies survival. I temporarily left my job as we were told we may be in Denver for a long while. We had also been aware, at this time frame, that The home we had been renting was being foreclosed. The day after surgery we found out one of our twin babies had passed away during the night. We were devastated and burned out. I didnt know what to do next. Going back to my low paying, part time job didnt seem like a good option, considering the cost of medical bills we will be fighting, possibly the rest of our lives. So I began laying carpet as a trainee once we moved back to Idaho. First thing first we had to move out of our home. We didnt have any options here other than moving into my parents home in Pocatello. My wife on moderate bed rest; family, friends, and I made the move, with a borrowed flat bed trailer. It was hard. We couldnt even afford a storage unit to place our things. So another family member, Lawrence, let us put our home inside one of his empty horse trailers. After this, my wife stayed in Idaho Falls on bed rest at a sisters house near the hospital there. I was in Pocatello laying carpet trying to make money to find another home. This was a great job, but though I was earning money, it was almost unhelpful compared to our living expenses. I couldnt earn enough to have any savings by the end of the month. My wife then went into unexpected labor at 24 weeks into her pregnancy. Both of our twins, Annabel and Brecklyn Gregersen were born March 5, 2014. Annabel had passed away after surgery at 18 weeks, and Brecklyn was born at 1 pound 9 ounces. She had two heart murmers and could fit inside your palms. She stayed in the Idaho Falls NICU for about two months. During that time I continued to work laying carpet. One afternoon I recieved a call from my wife telling me she and our daughter Brecklyn were being emergency flown to the SLC Primary Childrens Hospital so that our premature baby daughter could have bowl intestinal surgery. That part of her intestine had to be removed. I immediately began my drive to Salt Lake and met them there in the NICU. The following day Brecklyn had surgery, and it was successful. At this point we moved in with family in both Salt Lake and Springville. We have been with Brecklyn continuously. Now, we are getting close to having her and moving back to Pocatello.
