My opinion on the presidential debate, Gone gole thatanyana. I must say they did very well. Its a pity we did not have the current rulling party participating in the debates to give a clear pespective of where they are and why they did what they did. We do not know the BDPs position on how they will move Botswana forward. We have a good understanding of where the BCP and UDC desire to take Botswana to. Dumelang Saleshando had the advantage of having the exposure of being in parliament and used live example of what he stood for though he failed to defend his motions in parliament. There was too much of i in his presentations especially when giving examples of motions presented in parliament. He made it as if he is the only BCP Mp who tabled motions in parliament. On the other hand Boko Duma was a stronger candidate especially on the policy and legal framework that will enable Botswana to be productive and competitive. However he had the disadvantage of not being in parliament but could articulate the inclusive vision and direction of the party he leads. His strength in Law and position on creating environment for foreign direct investment and citizen particition in the economy scored points for Boko. He almost lost points when he did not clearly articulate the limitation we suffered due to lack of skilled labor for most of the exported jobs. The trick is indefining what comes first. Skills bases versus attracting industries to set up in Botswana. Its an issue of a chicken and egg.
