My review of a Marathi film Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush by Om Raut. The film is about Lokmanya Tilak (Bal Gangadgar Tilak), the first Leader of the Indias Independence Movement. We all know that from our school history books but the story is about how Tilak became Lokmanya, the accepted Leader of the masses. Lokmanya is played by Subodh S Bhave who is brilliant and plays the role to near perfection. Apart from intellectual direction, Director Om Raut does a remarkable job in getting a powerful performances from the entire cast. The background score is epic and chilling. Dialogs are strong, powerful and what makes this film amazing is the dialog delivery by Mr. Bhave which sometimes gives you goosebumps. Cinematography is fab, never seen this quality in Marathi Films. Editing is sharp n crsip (Im so proud of you Aashish Mhatre)Art Direction is super as it literally takes you to 1880s. Overall this film is very high technically and creatively. Not many films can achieve this. Om Raut you have certainly raised the bar very high. The best part of this film is to see how all the different leaders, from Lala Lajpat Rai to Swatantryaveer Sawarkar, Mahatma Gandhi to Mahatma Phule, helped Lokamnay Tilak in some or the other way in getting Swarajya. I recommend everyone including non Maharashtrians to go & watch the film as this film reminds us the sacrifice these leaders made to give us the freedom that we enjoy today. And its important for todays youth to realize and respect it. And Yes, this film is 100times better than most of the Bollywood films.
