My take on the 50 Shades books: While I havent personally read them, my experience working at the library last summer showed me that these books get nonreaders excited to read! The people who checked out these books were busy young women (and men!) who probably had not read a book in years yet were absolutely captivated by the trilogy. Reading increases brain function, vocabulary, grammar, social skills, world knowledge, and EMPATHY, something a lot of people could use a little more of. While I am not a fan of the content of these books, I think they are A-Okay because they encourage a whole new demographic to go to the library!
