My wife, Vee Sivilay, grew up in a tribe of this nature in Laos. We were just talking about that after breakfast this morning. To get to the nearest town with roads took two days walking. She told me that the government came and told them that they all had to move. That was in 1990, long after she had left on her own. Her family moved to Bokeo Laos which was a five day walk from their village. She says that before that happened, during the Viet Nam war, the military built an air base next to the village. She thinks helicopters, and they buried a lot of stuff (ammunition no doubt). The base was abandoned after the war and the grass field returned to the jungle. I have signed the petition on the website below asking that the oil companies leave these people in peace. Perhaps you will sign it as well.
