NC looking forward to script historic comeback in LA polls: Mattu Says NCs power comes from the resilience of our people Srinagar, July 21 National Conference has exuded unfaltering confidence in gaining a clear majority in the forthcoming Assembly Elections in the State. The party has said it would go to polls seeking a consolidation of mandate on the basis of unparalleled and unprecedented development under the path-breaking and revolutionary leadership of NC Working President Omar Abdullah. National Conference Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu has said that the party cadre was looking forward to scripting a historic comeback in the coming elections. Our workers are full of confidence and have reposed complete faith in our leadership and the vision of the party to politically and economically improve the lives of our people. The coming elections will see a battle between our proven track-record of substantial development and sustainable reform versus PDPs track-record of corruption and embezzlement. The people of J&K have recognized PDPs inclination to empower the most corrupt elements in our system in the manner in which PDP has roped in the most corrupt faces within the State and has rewarded their scams and plunder with mandates, the NC Spokesman said. The NC Spokesman said that the people of J&K are faced with a choice between values of development and transparency represented by National Conference as opposed to tendencies of corruption and criminalization of politics as exhibited by PDP. The choice is simple, clear and has far-reaching implications. Every single citizen of the State has to stand up against corruption and chicanery by ensuring that PDPs corrupt and criminal candidates lose their deposits in the coming elections. This State has not demonstrated resilience to come out of turmoil only to watch while criminals and notorious elements capture positions of political power. Far too many sacrifices have been rendered by the people of J&K to allow PDP to manipulate their sentiments and dreams, Mattu said while stating that he challenges PDPs ever-cynical talking-heads and chronic naysayers to prove wrong the fact that the Omar Abdullah government has outperformed all previous governments in every single sector and sphere of governance and policy. We are confident of emerging victorious in all three regions of the State. History is on our side in how we have rendered innumerable sacrifices to uphold the rights and aspirations of our people. Our track-record is exemplary in fighting corruption, decentralizing power and taking this State closer towards economic self-reliance and prosperity. The commendable rise in per-capita income, the undeniable average growth percentage in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and the fact that we have added more to our hydro-power portfolio than has been added collectively in the last six decades are facts that speak louder than theatrical rhetoric. We are absolutely confident of emerging as the single-largest party in the Assembly and gaining a simple majority on our own. Our strength lies in our performance - and in Assembly Elections people vote for performance not platitudes, Mattu said. The NC Spokesman said that National Conference has fielded the strongest candidates from 32 Assembly Segments based on the democratic feedback from the party workers and that the party would nominate strong, clean and credible faces from the remaining 55 Assembly Constituencies as well.
