Southend Utd v Portsmouth Saturday Roots Hall League 2 Bentley White Ibenfeldt Bolger Prosser Clifford Atkinson Leonard Payne Weston Corr Right, back to business. * In terms of formation, reverting to Plan B. Cant play my 3-5-2 as due to Ben cokers injury likely to keep him out, no natural left wing-back. * Conor Clifford plays as Phil says hes likely to do so. * Luke Prosser switches temporarily to Left back leaving a space in central defence. for me after a quiet word, Id recall Cian Bolger in the hope he makes amends for his errors at Plymouth. Mads Ibenfeldt comes in for me too harshly at expense of Adam Thompson. the goal we conceded may have been a penalty but Dans saves after defence was breached prevented us from losing. * Phil, again, persevere with Jack Payne, no reason not too. slightly strange the reason for him being taken off was due to tiredness as Id think hes played 2 games and should be keen enough to keep going at his young age. However if tiredness did set in then fair dos. Dont agree with Chris Phillips possible way of playing Jack as a second striker. play him there and hell be marked out a lot easier. Like with Paul Scholes, better getting in the box late after doing his stuff behind the forwards so it gives opposition defence something more to think about. When Scholes was played further up-field it didnt work. * Unnecessary criticism towards Ryan Leonard. consistently good for the past year and soon as a few games dont go quite as planned fingers start pointing. need a motivator in midfield and think Michael Timlin is missed in there to shore things up. Why I said if possible, an experienced loan player needed to be sought to cover his absence. till that happens we have no-one else. Kevan Hurst, off course, out of form so Ryan has had to keep going. * Dont agree with Phils point of saying we were worthy of a point after the way the second half panned out. if Jack had to come off as you say, why not bring on David Worrall as a complete like for like replacement. changing the system when it worked in the first half caused the situation to go tits up and as a result we were lumbered with one point when against a struggling oxford side we should have taken all three. *. Portsmouth will be a handful in attack itd seem, Patrick Agyemang, Tom Craddock, Ryan Taylor and of course southend born Ricky Holmes have the ability to hurt. Holmes scored a great goal for Barnet at Roots Hall the season before last and a shame he hasnt donned a blue shirt as yet. * If Ben Cokers injury rules him out Id suggest looking for a loan Left back. I think Luke Prosser is better served centrally. and maybe a loan forward if blanks are fired again after the weekend and the yoiungsters are not deemed ready at this point. So let battle commence and hopefully that is valid in both halves either side of half-time. Up the Shrimpers
