NEED HELP WITH A HUGE LIFE DECISION Ive been accepted into both Ottawa Biomedical Science and Western Medical Science programs. What are your thoughts/opinions on these programs or schools? Like so many Biomed students I too hope to go into medicine someday, with research as a plan B. As a result much of my decision will take into consideration whether there would be a greater likelihood of entering into medical school from either school or program. My personal impression is that Western, with its higher premed population and less populated geographical location, would generate higher competition amongst premeds seeking extracurricular experience in clinical or laboratory settings. Do you agree? And which (if any) do you think would be a more GPA-friendly program? I know Western incorporates much more multiple choice into its testing than Ottawa does (MC is more objective and arguably easier), and Ottawa requires English (which for some could lower his/her GPA). Another noteworthy point might be that considering entrance averages of both programs, I would consider myself as an upper calibre student in entering into Ottawa Biomed or as a lower calibre student entering into Western Med Sci. I personally find either school/city to be the right fit, as is often preached as an important factor. Thoughts? I would really appreciate your input!
