NEWS FOR YOU - Ive been in Las Vegas for going on 22 years and have certainly seen many changes in our local broadcast TV. Its so unusual to see all three of our local affiliates, CBS, NBC and ABC sold at the same time. Nonetheless, WELCOME to Fabulous Las Vegas and wish all of you in Broadcast News the best! ....The sales are as follows: CBS - Channel 8 = Nexstar Broadcasting ... NBC - Channel 3 = Sinclair Broadcast Group ... and ABC - Channel 13 = E.W. Scripps Company From Paula Francis ... Today we employees of 8 News Now met the top honchos of the company thats buying Channel 8. They are called Nexstar, and they own 110 stations. Theyre publicly owned (traded on NASDAQ) so it will be a change. Since the late 70s, we have been privately owned by Landmark. There are bound to be big changes. I am fortunate to be in a position to leave if I wish to. Well see. Since we signed on the air in 1953 (no, I wasnt here then!!), we have had only a handful of owners: Hank Greenspun, Howard Hughes (yes, THAT Howard Hughes), Landmark Corporation and early next year, Nexstar. Through their 110 stations, they reach 18% of the American viewing audience. Amazing, huh? Coincidentally, Channels 3 and 13 are also changing hands! Highly unusual times. Well still have the great CBS programming
