NIGERIA HAS 3 FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEMS – @THISISBUHARI The APC presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday in Sokoto that Nigeria had three fundamental problems and that repairing the country would definitely take time, as the damage had already been done. Buhari, who was in Sokoto in continuation of his presidential campaign, spoke while on a courtesy to the Sultan of Sokoto and president-general, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Sa’ad Abubakar III, in his palace. Stressing that Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal will be succeeding incumbent governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, as the next governor of Sokoto State, Buhari decried that over 60 million Nigerian youths are estimated to be unemployed, adding that it will soon be a thing of the past hence the resolve to strengthen agriculture when he becomes president. “There are three fundamental issues that is before us in this country. And these are the question of security, the question of economy and the question of corruption. All other things can be under those three fundamental problems. “On security, Your Eminence, we asked what we can do to solve the situation. Luckily, we share the same profession with you. And from the experiences, I think we will make sure that the security enforcement agencies, including the military, are once more the pride of Nigeria. “Unemployment, which is another problem, forms the vicious cycle of security because of bribery and corruption. With the number of youths, it is estimated that over 60 million Nigerian youths are unemployed whether they go to school or not. We have to do something quickly about it. “The way we can do something about it is to go to farming, Your Eminence. Farming to make sure how much we can put in that line because of mechanization or increased fertilizer distribution and so on – for extension farmers to get the best. And then, like what is happening in Zamfara about the mining of gold and the effect of lead on people and communities is very clear. So that we quickly take a lot of the unemployed youths. Dignitaries in the campaign include, Buhari’s running mate, Prof. Osibanjo, SENATOR SARAKI, APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun and other party faithful. ‘We Must Vote Out Corruption, Insecurity’ The APC presidential flag bearer, Gen. Muhammad Buhari yesterday said it was not only a civic duty but that every Nigerian was morally-bound to sustain the struggle to rid this country of the prevailing corruption and insecurity. Buhari, who made this observation in Zamfara State capital, Gusau, amidst a massive crowd of supporters on Wednesday night in continuation of his nation-wide campaign tour, noted that the major challenges now facing the nation were security and corruption. He emphasized that he would make sure that those who steal public money are made to return it, noting that the fight against corruption will form a major focus of the APC government. Buhari said despite his mature age, “I feel spiritually strong enough and physically agile to give every sacrifice in our bid to salvage our dear nation from imminent economic and social disintegration.” Buhari recalled that despite holding so many strategic positions in this country, he was never indicted of involvement in any misappropriation of public treasury or condoning acts of corruption, explaining that if he had any blemish, he would have been exposed by now. The retired general also noted that poverty and Insecurity are closely related, and that the prevailing unemployment among millions of youths must be addressed through job creation.
