Haya Javid NNI News *BMO absconding from a month* *Patients protest against DHSK* Kulgam, Jan 3, Scores of patients and attendants Monday staged a protest against the conspicuous absence of Block Medical Officer (BMO) from his duty in the Sub-District Hospital, Yaripora Kulgam. The protestors alleged that BMO Dr Ashfaq Aalam has went on an unauthorized leave and has gone to Gulf Country where according to them he is engaged with a foreign Pharma Company. * BMO Dr Ashfaq Alam who is a chest specialist according to patients is absconding while the Directorate of Health Service has not been bothering to fill the vacant post. Due to biting cold most of the patients suffer from chest disease but the absence of any chest specialist in the hospital is taking toll on the patients, an attendant told CNS. * * Sources told CNS that the absconding BMO, was attached to Chief Medical Officers Office Anantnag some four month back when during his tenure as BMO Achabl, his role in embezzlement of large chunk of money was established by an internal Departmental enquiry committee. Within a span of two months only, the tainted BMO managed to get himself deputed as BMO Yaripora. Only the higher authorities know what prompted them to post him as BMO Yaripora, even after it was established that he embezzled a large chunk of funds, said a doctor on condition of anonymity. * * Chief Medical Officer Kulgam, Dr Showkat Lolo confirmed to CNS that BMO Yaripora is absconding from past one month. He has went on an unauthorized leave and is engaged in pharma company in a foreign country. We have written to Director Health Service Kashmir and hopefully the action would be initiated against him, he said.* * Director Health Service Kashmir, Dr Salim-ur-Rehman told CNS that he has already written to the Commissioner Secretary Health and the ball is in the court of government.
