NO MISTAKE: These ordinarily smart guys dont get it. The president was NOT rewarding Walmart for being the worlds worst employer. On the contrary, he was isolating them and applying excruciating pressure upon them to do what they promised they would do. President Obama is not just some ordinary political talking head. As Martin Sheens legendary character, President Josiah Bartlet once said in The West Wing, Americas chief executive is A human starting gun. By simply showing up and making what appears to be a mistake in praising Walmarts imaginary virtues, President Obama has done anything BUT compliment them, despite the sound bites. Hes raised their public profile, while dropping their abysmal practices right on their overstuffed wallets. And its a stratagem thats working. After all, THESE GUYS are talking about Walmarts multitude of sins, arent they..?
